The best Christmas markets to visit in France
With just a few weeks left until Christmas, it's time to deck the halls with holly and get into the yuletide swing of things. And what better way to get those festive feelings flowing than a visit to a Christmas market? The Local has decided to step in to give you the lowdown on the cheeriest, the prettiest and the quirkiest of the Gallic "marchés de Noël."
AMIENS: Parfums d’hiver. Amiens Christmas market is renowned for its local produce: sugary delights like macaroons and tuiles amienoises (almond biscuits) as well as glass, soaps, and angora pullovers, are some of the locally crafted goods on offer. But what makes Amiens really stand out is the spectacular "son et lumière" (light and sound) show projected onto the town’s gothic cathedral every night. Open until December 30th.
