Top 12 English words reinvented by the French

While the French are notoriously protective of their sacred tongue, they aren’t so careful with other languages, it seems, most notably English - its "bête noir". The French language has scores of words that may sound like English, but in fact have little to do with Shakespeare’s language, or at least how the great scholar might have envisioned them being used. The Local has gathered a list of the some the French’s favourite "English" words that aren’t really Anglo at all. In fact French has tons of Anglo words that were minted in France and can be comically confusing for the average expat. Though these words can sound tantalizingly Anglo, they have either had their meaning stripped and changed and in some cases the word was completely ‘Made in France.’ Do you know anymore?
