View from the street: Paris to trial drug ‘safe house’

The French government revealed controversial plans this week to open up a centre where drug addicts can inject in safe and hygienic surroundings without fear of being arrested by police. The centre, which will open on trial basis, is due to be located near Gare du Nord, an area of the capital which has been plagued by the problems surrounding drugs. The Local went to Gare du Nord to ask residents and workers their view on the divisive subject of drug ‘safe houses’.
