In pictures: Electric storms and floods hit France
France has been hit by storms more akin to the tropics in recent days that has seen much of the country placed on alert. The south west of the country in the Pyrénées region has been particularly badly hit with the famous Catholic shrine of Lourdes almost submerged under the flood waters. Paris too has also been hit by fierce electric storms in the past three days. Send us yours pics to firstname.lastname@example.org
A person looks on the Gave de Pau, the river passing through Lourdes, southwestern France, which floods the esplanade in front of Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire (the Rosary Basilica) on June 18, 2013. French authorities were forced to shut the grotto at Lourdes and evacuated about 200 people following flash floods at the Roman Catholic pilgrimage site.
