Air conditioning is not common in France, especially in private homes - but there are other ways to keep yourself and your home cool during a heatwave.

When I lived in Paraguay, after lunch we would take a shower, then without drying off put on a light cotton dress and take a siesta. With the dress, you create your own AC system. Another method is to fill the bathtub with cold water leaving it there all day, and then from time to time dip into your own private swimming pool.
