The number of French tourists booking flights to America this summer has dropped 25 percent year on year. On the other hand, more visitors from the ‘other side of the Pond’ are discovering the joys and wonders of France’s Riviera – in one year the number of US visitors alone has jumped 16 percent.
In part, the jump in American visitor numbers to south-east France, rather than the more traditional Parisian break, is down to heavy promotion of the region and the fact that it is easier to get to than ever.
Between May and October, Nice International Airport operates six daily direct flights to four US cities: New York, Washington, Philadelphia and Atlanta.
