In the face of falling mail volumes and inflation, La Poste will adjust its postage rates from January 1st, 2025.
This increase, La Poste said, is to “ensure the long-term viability of the universal postal service, with a high level of quality against a backdrop of inflation and falling mail volumes, and to continue to meet customers' uses and needs while reducing its carbon footprint”.
By the end of 2024, the average household spend on postal charges is expected to be €29, a figure that is expected to drop another 3 percent in 2025. In 2015, average household postal expenditure was around €48.
The standard lettre verte, which is delivered in three working days, will cost €1.39 to post from January 1st. For more urgent letters, the partially online e-lettre rouge service promises following-day delivery.
