Thursday in France saw snow blanketing much of the north and centre of the country, including Paris, while storm Caetano left 200,000 households without electricity.
Electricity network provider Enedis says that 90 percent of households should be reconnected by Saturday evening, but others may have to wait until Sunday.
Meanwhile more snow and icy conditions have caused severe transport disruption in the north of the country with roads closed and train services delayed. Several départements have cancelled school transport, including those in the greater Paris area.
Further flurries of snow are forecast for Friday morning, especially in Normandy and the greater Paris area.
On Thursday afternoon Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport asked airlines to cancel 10 percent of their flights to allow for the runways to be cleared, although services are now running as normal.
Meanwhile, French national rail service, SNCF, has also reported delays on several routes, with RER and Translien train services in Île-de-France also disrupted.
Major highways including the A10 near Orléans, the A36 in Doubs and the RN118 in Yvelines are either closed or experiencing severe delays. Heavy lorries have been barred from travel on several major routes.

Much of northern and central France is experiencing freezing temperatures which raises the risk of ice, especially on the roads, while some flurries of snow are expected on Friday morning, especially on the Channel coast.
