UPDATE: Storm warnings issued for central and southern France
After several days of temperatures climbing over the 30C-mark, parts of central and southern France were braced for storms on Friday.
National weather agency Méteo France has placed 20 départements in central and southern France on "orange" alert for thunderstorms on Friday evening - up from 13 initiqlly - with lightning, hail and heavy rain and wind forecast.
The départements with warnings in place are Allier, Aveyron, Cantal, Cher, Corrèze, Creuse, Dordogne, Haute-Garonne, Gers, Indre, Loire, Haute-Loire, Loiret, Lot, le Lot-et-Garonne, Puy-de-Dôme, Seine-et-Marne, Tarn, Tarn-et-Garonne and Haute-Vienne.
Winds are expected to reach a strength up to 110-120 km/h, according to Météo France, which said the storms will move from west to east, reaching the Pyrenees mountains on Friday evening and night.

Some parts of France were given a taste of the storms on Thursday evening.

Méteo France said it advised people to avoid unnecessary travel during the storm and said people should turn of their electric devices.
