Earthquake measuring 5.1 shakes western France
People living in western France felt the earth move on Friday morning when an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck several areas in the Pays de la Loire region.
The tremors of the earthquake were felt in several parts of the region, including in the cities of Nantes and Angers.
The earthquake occurred at around 8.50am on Friday morning.

"I heard a thunderclap and the house vibrated," one resident of the region told Franceinfo.

The epicentre of the earthquake was close to the town of Cholet and its tremors were also felt in Tours and Bressuire.

The earthquake measured 5.1 on the Richter scale, according to figures from France's Atomic Energy Commission (CEA).
