Anger as sex offenders in French prison package dildos

Prison unions are up in arms after learning convicts in southern France have been tasked with packaging sex toys.

The prisoners in Grasse, a small town near Nice on the French Riviera, often spend their days carrying out menial tasks for private companies, which can often include packaging products for customers.
But five of the prisoners have recently been boxing up dildos for private company Easy Love – even though four of them are convicted sex offenders.
“It's disrespectful to the victims,” Hervé Segaud, spokesperson for the FO-Pénitentiaire union, told Le Dauphiné Libéré newspaper.
“Can you imagine how the victims would feel if they learned what these prisoners are doing?”
He told Le Parisien newspaper that he was aware that French prisons needed to “get with the times” by doling out work to the inmates, but that this particular case was “disturbing”.
“And I'm not sure that this is good for the rehabilitation of these kind of people with these kinds of sicknesses,” he said.
He added that he thought prison management needed to be “more vigilant” when assigning tasks to the prisoners, and needed to consider which prisoners were suitable for which jobs.
Easy Love is yet to comment on the matter.
