A Frenchman has made the rather unsavoury discovery of what appears to be a fried chicken head among his chicken wings from French fast food store Quick.

Mounir Bessaïh made the unappetizing discovery when visiting a Quick fast food store in Saint-Jean-de-Védas, on the outskirts of Montpellier in southern France last week.

After ordering chicken wings from the store, he was shocked to find a chicken head on his dinner tray.

"I almost bit into it! I thought it was a bone," he told Le Parisien newspaper.

The man took the object to the counter, where he said managers offered him a milkshake and a coffee as compensation.

"They offered me free meals, but even so, I don't plan to go back," he said.

The man uploaded footage of the foul discovery to YouTube on Friday, where it has since gathered almost 80,000 hits (see above).

Quick, which was bought by Burger King late last year, took to its official Facebook page to apologize.

It said that it had been in contact with Bessaïh, and would "address this issue with the utmost transparency".

The team added that "fortunately, this unacceptable incident posed no health risks".
