Bungling French burglar notches his 88th arrest
A burglar in the Paris area might want to rethink his break-in strategy after he was arrested this week for the 88th time.
The ham-fisted crook caught his latest bad break when the wife of one of his victims spotted her husband’s missing watch on sale online.
She alerted the police, who were on hand to apprehend a villain already well known to them from his dozens of previous botched burglaries, news site Europe 1 reports.
The fifty-something housebreaker's modus operandi involves him entering buildings using a master key, before forcing open letter boxes in the hope of finding apartment keys.
After their most recent encounter with the thief, police officers spent hours listing the hundreds of stolen objects they found. They are now seeking to identify the owners of a vast of array of valuable watches, pens, cuff links, computer hardware, and handbags.
The suspect is currently being held at Fleury-Merogis, Europe’s largest prison, located just south of Paris.
