Jubilant fans took to the streets of towns and cities all over France on Monday to celebrate their team's win over Nigeria in the last 16 of the World Cup. Take a look at some of the best pictures from the day.

Relieved supporters of Les Bleus, watching from a bar in Lyon,  celebrate after France open the scoring against Nigeria.

Supporters in Strasbourg stop the traffic, including police cars, as they celebrate the victory that saw France into the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

In Paris, thousands descended on the Hôtel de Ville where the game was broadcast on a giant screen. The Local France was down there too.

This pic was taken moments after France scored their first goal. 

There were chaotic scenes at the Hôtel de Ville as police struggled to control the crowds that spilled onto the roads as rush hour hit Paris.

Reinforcements had to be drafted in.
