A couple in their in their 50s have been found dead in the snow at a ski resort in the Savoie region, where they are presumed to have committed suicide,

A holidaymaker found their bodies lying in the snow by a path not far from the slopes, only 25 meters from the cabin they had been staying in.

An autopsy has revealed they both died of hypothermia, and the local prosecutor confirmed the authorities believe it was an act of suicide.

The couple left notes in the cabin they had been staying in, explaining they were “disappointed in life and wanted to die this way because they loved the mountains.”

They had reportedly returned the keys of the cabin they had rented just before they were found, and the rucksacks by their sides contained food and bottles of alcohol.
