Funeral for cyclist caught in Alps shooting

Sylvain Mollier, the French cyclist slain in the Alps shooting, has been buried in his home village close to the scene of an unexplained massacre that left four people dead.

A discreet, private funeral attended by around 30 people was held in the village of Ugine on Sunday evening, the funeral directors told AFP.

Mollier, 45, leaves his partner, who gave birth to their first child in June, and two children from his previous marriage.

He was shot dead on September 5 near the village of Chevaline above Lake Annecy along with three members of the British-Iraqi al-Hilli family.

The prosecutor in charge of the investigation into the killing has said there is nothing in Mollier's background to suggest he may have been the target of the attack and that he was just unfortunate to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
