A guitar given to Johnny Hallyday for his 69th birthday was stolen before he was due to go on stage for a concert in Bordeaux.

The guitar was apparently in its case on the stage, ready for the concert Tuesday night. Hallyday’s producer reported the theft to police before the gig was to start.

The French icon’s production company have said they believe the guitar was taken on Monday or Tuesday.

If found, the Gretsch guitar will be easy to identify as Johnny’s - the number 69 is engraved onto the neck.
