Teenager arrested for raping 83-year-old
A 15-year-old boy has been arrested following the violent assault and rape of an 83-year-old woman in the centre of Marseilles.
The boy, who denies the charges, was arrested on Friday morning near his parents’ house in the city centre.
The attack is alleged to have taken place on June 3rd. The boy is suspected of following the woman and attacking her when she reached her home at one o’clock in the morning, taking her jewellery and then raping her before fleeing the scene.
The 15-year-old was already known to the police for other minor offences, and was tracked down by DNA samples and CCTV footage.
He has been charged with rape of a vulnerable person, and aggravated theft from a vulnerable person.
The woman has now left hospital and is staying with family near Paris due to psychological problems.
