In the war between blondes and brunettes, blondes have won yet another battle. A researcher from the University of Brittany-South says tips given to blond waitresses are 25 percent higher than the tips given to brunettes and other hair types.
The researcher Nicolas Guéguen studied the tipping habits of men in hundreds of restaurants and bars across the region. Without informing the waitresses taking part of the purpose of his study, he asked them to wear different coloured wigs and observed the tips they received.
His first conclusion is that men give more than women. 43 percent of male customers leave a tip compared to only 30 percent for female customers.
Guéguen also found out that the amount of money given by female customers does not vary according to the hair type of the waitresses.
But he did notice variations when it came to male customers: they are definitely more generous with blondes.
