Libertines man Pete Doherty became close to Charlotte Gainsbourg during the shooting of the film “Confessions of a Child of the Century”, he said in an interview with the British music weekly NME.
Doherty – who once dated Kate Moss – says the film features love scenes, but that they started seeing each other afterwards.
“But on set there were these love scenes. The only problem was those love scenes appeared before we actually made love in real life,” says the singer.
The alleged love story between Gainsbourg and Doherty did not last long. But in the meantime, Gainsbourg was allegedly introduced to Doherty’s unconventional lifestyle.
He says they spent time in his dilapidated country house. “The roof of my country house was starting to collapse, the electricity had been cut and we were sitting in the dark. It was cold and there were buckets everywhere to collect the rain water.”
“I lit a fire. I wanted to warm Charlotte’s feet,” says Doherty.
Doherty says Gainsbourg left her partner actor Yvan Attal to move to London, but returned to Paris after a couple of days.
”I think the lifestyle I was living at the time, she wasn’t accustomed to,” he said.
Gainsbourg has not responded to these allegations.
